The Greenpreneurs, learning by doing

If you have professional experience in- or have recently graduated within the field of Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency and seek to enhance or gain valuable professional and entrepreneurial skills within the building and construction field, then the Greenpreneurs project is for you.

This Erasmus+ funded project uses the Learning by Doing (LBD) and Tiimiakatemia methodologies through an innovative training module offering a vocational education level program. The Tiimiakatemia methodology which started in Finland in 1993, is being used worldwide by more than 6,000 people in various ways. The Tiimiakatemia approach provides learning through practice, not just sitting in a boring classroom listening to lectures but rather working in a team that is based on real projects and real customers in a real-life setting.  Basically, solving daily real-life problems and getting things done in practicums.

What is interesting about this project is that they develop entrepreneurial skills and attitudes of entrepreneurs in a team-based setting they call “teampreneurs”. This can be a useful learning and guiding tool as you will be supported and surrounded by like-minded people within the REE field. As everybody knows, teamwork emphasizes on working together and in this case, working, learning, and growing together.

About Greenpreneurs

The first Greenpreneurs “pilots”, as they call them, were created, and successfully tested back in 2016 in Spain, the United Kingdom and Finland.  As I mentioned before, this project is funded by the Erasmus+ fund and partnered with well-known Universities such as the University of West England in Bristol, the largest provider of higher education in the Southwest of England, the Turku University of Applied Sciences in Finland, just to name a few. Erasmus+ funds this project through its Key Action 2: Cooperation for innovation and the exchange of good practices which again is mainly located in Spain, the United Kingdom, and Finland.

Their target market typically involves groups such as unemployed or underemployed people with previous training and/or professional experience in the field of EEB in the building and construction sector.

Why choose Greenpreneurs

As we all know, the transition to a greener economy is a priority as well as decreasing the unemployment rate, which by the way was standing at about 26 million people within the EU at the beginning of this project in 2015 according to Eurostat. The good news, however, is that the potential within the green sector is massively increasing. The Greenpreneurs provides a potential answer by offering its vocational level program to enhance professional and entrepreneurial skills among the unemployed people within this field. They approach this topic from an entrepreneurial perspective and especially team entrepreneurship makes them innovative.
